At this awarding ceremony, designation certificates will be presented to about 50 travel agencies selected as dedicated domestic and international travel agencies for Gangwon this year, and a meeting to discuss tourism revitalization plans will also be held. Through this, Gangwon Province plans to successfully promote the ‘2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year’ by enabling more tourists to visit through cooperation with various tourism networks.
The domestic group tourist attraction marketing project designates competitive domestic travel agencies as dedicated travel agencies and provides customer attraction incentives when developing and operating essential package tour products including traditional markets. This project has been implemented since 2019 to contribute to the revitalization of traditional markets and tourism in Gangwon.
Following the domestic dedicated travel agency certificate awarding ceremony, the meeting will discuss product development targeting not only the Seoul area but also the Yeongnam region, based on improved transportation conditions due to the recent opening of the Donghae Line.
The overseas dedicated travel agencies consist of inbound specialist travel agencies attracting foreign tourists from Greater China, Southeast Asia, Japan, and North America and Europe. These agencies are expected to play an important role in developing stay-type tourism products within Gangwon Province and attracting foreign tourists visiting Korea to Gangwon.
Also, at this overseas dedicated travel agency certificate awarding ceremony, cities and counties within Gangwon Province, ski resorts, and dedicated travel agencies will gather to hold a B2B consultation meeting for product development targeting individual and group tourists.
The subsequent meeting will explore multifaceted promotional marketing strategies such as ?invited fam tours for product development ?overseas sales targeting key markets linked to the 2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year ?online and offline promotions.
Kim Seong-rim, Director of the Gangwon Province Tourism Bureau, said, “I sincerely thank the travel agency representatives who work hard and think together to develop products that reflect the characteristics of the Gangwon region to revitalize tourism in Gangwon,” and added, “We will actively cooperate so that more domestic and international tourists can visit Gangwon during the 2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year.”
