Korea Consumer Agency and Fair Trade Commission to Gather Public Opinions from April 24 to May 31
Winning Ideas to Be Used for Legal and Institutional Improvements
The Korea Consumer Agency and the Fair Trade Commission announced on the 21st that they will hold the 9th National Consumer-Oriented Improvement Task Contest to gather opinions and ideas on inconveniences experienced in consumer life and reflect them in legal and institutional improvements.
This contest will be held from the 24th of this month to May 31st. Anyone, individually or in teams of up to five members, can propose ideas to improve laws and systems that undermine consumer rights in a consumer-oriented manner. Applications and task proposals can be submitted through the Korea Consumer Agency contest website, and the results of the evaluation will be announced in September.
Selected winners will receive certificates from the Fair Trade Commission Chairman or the Korea Consumer Agency Director, along with prize money ranging from 300,000 to 1,500,000 KRW depending on the award level.
Among the winning entries from last year's contest, three tasks including the proposal to mandate essential ventilation warnings on juvenile-type air fresheners (incense) were recommended to relevant ministries to improve related laws or systems after approval by the 2024 Consumer Policy Committee.
The ideas selected through this contest will be actively utilized for institutional improvements to enhance consumer rights. Detailed information about the contest can be found in the notices section of the Korea Consumer Agency website starting from the 24th.
