"ESG in the Construction Industry:
Strategies Toward Sustainability"
HanmiGlobal, the No. 1 construction project management (PM) company in Korea, announced on the 20th that it has published a book presenting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management strategies for the construction industry.
The book, titled "ESG in the Construction Industry: Strategies Toward Sustainability," was co-authored with Professors Changbeom Ahn and Jongseop Lee from Seoul National University. It is an attempt to find solutions tailored to the characteristics of the construction industry, where ESG management determines corporate survival.
The book is divided into four parts: the concept and evaluation methods of ESG management, ESG cases of domestic and international construction companies, ESG strategies specialized for the construction industry, and ways to build a sustainable construction ESG ecosystem.
There are many criticisms that the construction industry's response to ESG is still insufficient. While some large general contractors have started ESG disclosures and evaluations, small and medium-sized construction companies express uncertainty about where to begin.
Kim Jonghun, Chairman of HanmiGlobal, said, "ESG management in the construction industry is an urgent task that can no longer be postponed," adding, "We hope this book will provide practical help for companies to implement ESG management."
Professor Ahn stated, "Due to the nature of the order-winning industry, the role of the government and public clients is important," and emphasized, "It is necessary to first identify ESG elements suitable for the construction industry."
HanmiGlobal has previously published 25 specialized books, including "Tesla of the Construction Industry, the Challenge and Failure of Katerra."
