Establishing a Systematic Safety and Health Management System for Riders
Woowa Brothers, responsible for the logistics service of Baedal Minjok, announced that it held the launch ceremony of the specialized organization for creating a safe delivery environment, the "Rider Safety Management Committee," on the 19th at the Kensington Hotel in Yeouido.
The Rider Safety Management Committee is a proactive governance established to systematically carry out rider safety support programs and campaigns. It plans to create a safe delivery environment so that riders, who connect various parts of society, can perform sustainable delivery activities and serve as a social safety net. The Rider Safety Management Committee is one of the major projects of the "Rider Safety Measures" announced last year by Woowa Brothers in collaboration with Assemblyman Park Hong-bae's office.

The Rider Safety Management Committee is composed of external experts in various fields such as safety and health, and an external member was appointed as the chairperson to strengthen expertise and independence. The inaugural chairperson of the Safety Management Committee is Professor Kang Sung-kyu of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Gachon University Gil Medical Center (President of the International Commission on Occupational Health). Other members include Professor Jung Jin-woo of the Department of Safety Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Lim Woo-taek, Head of Safety and Health at the Korea Employers Federation, and Song Myung-jin, Secretary General of the Korea Platform Freelancer Labor Mutual Aid Association. Notably, Hong Chang-ui, Chairperson of the Delivery Platform Labor Union, participates as a committee member. Since the Delivery Platform Labor Union, the representative negotiating labor union, is involved in the Safety Management Committee, the opinions of on-site riders will be actively reflected in safety policies to discover and apply effective improvement measures.
Kim Byung-woo, CEO of Woowa Brothers, said, “As social interest in the safety of delivery motorcycles grows and related discussions become more active, Woowa Brothers’ responsibility to prioritize rider safety is also increasing. We expect that the safety programs Woowa Brothers has been conducting will become more advanced and systematic with the launch of this Safety Management Committee. Since Baedal Minjok is taking responsibility for riders’ traffic safety and leading the creation of a healthy delivery industry, we will continue to do our best to establish a safe delivery driving culture and promote the sound development of delivery services.”
