On the 19th (local time), an EU official stated in a press release sent to the press corps that Ant?nio Costa, the permanent chair of the EU Summit, is in contact with the heads of member states. He said, "We are conducting consultations focusing on the EU's support and security assurance for Ukraine."

According to an internal document obtained by Bloomberg News, the EU is pushing to provide 1.5 million artillery shells and precision strike missiles. The EU Executive Commission, which functions as the executive branch, is reviewing funding plans and also includes a plan to request participation from non-EU member countries.

The EU is accelerating these measures based on the judgment that the Donald Trump administration in the United States is leaning toward Russia in peace negotiations for Ukraine. Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, is also expected to discuss military support measures for Ukraine at the second informal summit held in Paris on the same day.
