LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam
Unveils 2024 Social Contribution Equestrian Project Plan
Expanding Local Engagement and Healing Through Horse Industry Programs
LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam (Head 엄영석) is launching projects to promote regional growth and address social issues by utilizing horse industry infrastructure.
On the 14th, LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam announced its social contribution equestrian project plan for this year.
LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam aims to increase local residents' familiarity with horses and horseback riding through various programs and experiential content, and to build consensus on the horse industry. As a leading horse industry institution, it plans to enhance social contribution content using its unique business and present diverse possibilities for the stagnant horse industry.
Starting in March, LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam will operate life-cycle programs that cover all generations from youth to the elderly through horses.
It will help unmarried young men and women meet and marry through horses, integrate horse industry job experience programs into public education to support children's learning, and operate experiential programs to assist vulnerable groups and grandparent-headed families facing childcare difficulties. Additionally, programs will be conducted to support career-returning women and encourage healthy aging for the elderly.
Furthermore, social contribution programs will be promoted to soothe the body and mind of local residents in need of healing and therapy through horses. LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam will collaborate with local hospitals to promote horse therapy, a type of animal-assisted therapy, to help residents who need emotional stability. Rehabilitation riding will be conducted to aid the rehabilitation of children with disabilities, and healing riding will be operated for social workers to provide emotional support and boost morale among frontline social welfare staff. Especially this year, close cooperation with local disability welfare centers will enhance accessibility to rehabilitation riding for local people with disabilities.
In addition, to help local residents feel closer and more familiar with horses, mini horse experience booths will be operated at various public events and local festivals. Through diverse content such as feeding and petting horses, horse-related safety education, and introduction to various horse breeds, the booths will expand opportunities for visitors to have positive experiences with horses.
Yeom Young-seok, Head of Korea Racing Authority Busan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, said, “We hope more local residents experience the strong vitality and empathy that horses provide, as well as physical ability improvement and vitality in life through horseback riding.” He added, “LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam will continue various projects in close cooperation with multiple institutions to approach local residents in a more friendly and accessible way.”
