Kumho HT, a specialized automotive electronics company, announced on the 19th that its consolidated sales last year reached a record high of 444.875 billion KRW. This represents a 22.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit rose by 10.3% to 11.9 billion KRW, and although a net loss of 15 billion KRW was recorded, it improved by 5.2 billion KRW compared to the previous year.
The growth in performance was mainly driven by the tangible results from the India subsidiary. Overseas sales increased by 15.7% year-on-year. Sales to India grew by 102.8% compared to the previous year. Consequently, operating profit also improved, and with the expansion of product mass production and supply through the India subsidiary, continued performance growth is expected.
Last year, Kumho HT began mass production of automotive LED module products at its Chennai factory in India, marking the full-scale operation of the India plant. Kumho HT supplies products to major global automakers using the India plant as a base. The company plans to aggressively target the Indian automotive market, the third largest in the world, to maximize sales.
By product category, sales of headlamp LED modules and battery management system (BMS) related products increased significantly. In particular, sales of BMS-related products surged by 225.1% year-on-year. The company explained that steady performance growth is expected as the global adoption of vehicle LEDs expands and the application of BMS in vehicle models continues to increase.
Meanwhile, Kumho HT initiated the development of micro LED headlamps optimized for autonomous driving for the first time in Korea last year and is advancing related technology. Growth is also anticipated in the interior mood lighting business, and the company plans to further strengthen its global market competitiveness through the development of lighting solutions linked to autonomous driving technology.
A Kumho HT official stated, “Since the end of last year, global sales growth and performance improvement centered on the India subsidiary have become full-fledged,” adding, “This year, we will continue our growth trend through expanded operation of the India plant and advancement of lighting technology linked to autonomous driving.”
