The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is launching the ‘2025 AI (Artificial Intelligence) Challenge Program’ project to innovate public services in Gyeonggi-do.
The AI Challenge Program is a project that discovers AI technologies demonstrating effectiveness in the public sector and provides AI companies with opportunities for technology verification and case acquisition.
Previously, Gyeonggi-do conducted demand surveys for AI utilization targeting cities, counties, and public institutions twice, in October last year and January this year.
As a result, the topics requiring AI technology to solve social issues within the region were identified as four areas: ▲administrative services ▲traffic safety ▲medical welfare ▲agricultural environment.
Accordingly, Gyeonggi-do plans to conduct matching between public sectors and companies according to AI demand by promoting the ‘AI Challenge Program’ contest and holding meetings where cities, counties, public institutions, and AI companies participate together.
First, on the 25th of this month, an online briefing session will provide presentation videos of companies possessing AI technologies in key task areas.
Gyeonggi-do plans to support cities, counties, and public institutions in discovering excellent companies and forming competitive consortia before participating in the ‘AI Challenge Program’ contest project.
Companies wishing to participate as AI technology suppliers should produce a project proposal video and submit it via email to the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency contacts (jybae@gbsa.or.kr, jyhan@gbsa.or.kr) by the 21st of this month. Detailed video production guidelines will be provided through the provincial government and the agency’s websites.
The AI companies’ technology introductions and proposal videos will be disclosed to 31 cities, counties, and public institutions wishing to participate in the project.
Subsequently, on March 5th, an on-site briefing session will be held at the ‘Gyeonggi Startup Campus’ in Pangyo. This event will consist of networking time to share demands and capabilities between cities, counties, public institutions, and AI companies, and to discuss ways to utilize AI technology and possibilities for collaboration.
Jung Won-jung, head of the AI Industry Team at the agency, stated, "We will post company presentation videos on an online platform so that demand institutions can freely watch them before the on-site briefing session," and added, "We plan to encourage pre-matching to discover companies wishing to form consortia."
