Yeoninsan Provincial Park in Gyeonggi-do will carry out a spring pine wilt disease control project until April.
On the 19th, Gyeonggi-do announced that it will conduct a pine wilt disease control project in three areas of Gapyeong-gun: Seungan-ri, Ma-il-ri, and Baekdun-ri, including preventive tree injections over 48 hectares and removal of 1,105 infected trees.
The preventive tree injections are measures to block infection of healthy Korean pine trees and will be carried out mainly in major Korean pine tree colonies within the provincial park.
The 1,105 Korean pine trees already confirmed as dead or suspected of infection will be safely removed by a professional pest control company in accordance with the "Pine Wilt Disease Control Guidelines."
The removed infected trees will be processed through thorough control procedures such as shredding and net covering to prevent the spread of the pine wilt disease.
Earlier, Gyeonggi-do set the project budget in the first supplementary budget of 2024 for proactive control of pine wilt disease in Yeoninsan Provincial Park, completed the design service in November last year, and started the control project in January 2025.
Lee Jeong-su, Director of the Garden Industry Division of Gyeonggi-do, stated, "Through this pine wilt disease control project, we expect to protect the valuable natural resources of Yeoninsan Provincial Park and effectively block the spread of pests and diseases."
