Democrats: "Is the Prosecution Afraid the Core of the Myeong Taekyun Gate Is Kim Gunhee?"

The Democratic Party urged the prosecution to investigate, saying, "Are you afraid that the essence of the Myeong Taegyun gate will be revealed as the Kim Geonhee gate?"

On the 18th, Lee Nayoung, deputy spokesperson of the Democratic Party, issued a statement saying, "Does the prosecution really break down when faced with the name Kim Geonhee?" and emphasized the need for a ‘Myeong Taegyun special prosecutor’ regarding allegations of interference in the nomination process by President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife.

Deputy spokesperson Lee pointed out, "According to a NewsTapa report, the prosecution analyzed data stored on Myeong Taegyun’s home PC and reportedly detected signs that he was involved in personnel matters of the Security Office," adding, "They identified such signs last November but have done no investigation until now. What have they been doing?"

She continued, "In July 2022, Myeong received a KakaoTalk message from Kwon, a Grade 5 public official belonging to the Security Office, saying, ‘It’s all thanks to Doctor, I entered through Doctor’s line.’ The Security Information Department of the Ministry of National Defense building is the Presidential Security Service Security and Safety Headquarters," and said, "It cannot be dismissed that such personnel matters were connected to the lines of Kim Geonhee and Kim Seonghun, Deputy Director of the Security Office."

Furthermore, "It cannot be dismissed that such personnel matters were connected to the lines of First Lady Kim Geonhee and Deputy Director Kim Seonghun, but the prosecution did not investigate Kwon despite suspecting personnel requests in the investigation report," and criticized, "The prosecution must answer why they have been dragging out the case for nearly a year, only to start an investigation and then hold onto the case for another six months."

She added, "The Democratic Party will definitely uncover the full truth of the state manipulation, nomination, and election interference by the Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geonhee couple through the Myeong Taegyun special prosecutor bill."
