Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 18th that it will implement the "Cardiocerebrovascular Disease Complications Screening Support Program" to prevent and detect early cases of stroke and ischemic heart disease.
This program will run from March 4 until the budget is exhausted. Eligible participants are residents registered with the Dangjin City Public Health Center as chronic disease patients, who were born in an odd-numbered year, are aged 30 or older, and have been taking hypertension or diabetes medication for more than one year.
Those who wish to apply can visit the health center (or a local health branch or clinic) with their ID and recent prescription to receive a screening referral. Afterward, they can undergo the examination at a partnered medical institution.
The screening covers four items: carotid artery ultrasound, microalbuminuria test, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test, and fundus examination.
A Dangjin City official said, "Since early detection and prevention are crucial for cardiocerebrovascular diseases, we hope this support program will help residents manage their health."
