Under the theme "Hopeful Uljin Looking Forward to Tomorrow! Towards a Growth Path," County Governor Son Byung-bok personally introduced the direction of county administration and gathered residents' opinions, receiving great response from the community.

Uljin-gun, which is writing a new history of overcoming regional extinction through change and innovation to improve the quality of life for residents and the national nuclear hydrogen industrial complex, plans to make every effort to ensure that the efforts bear fruit by 2025 and to create a happy Uljin that residents can truly feel.

Let us look at Uljin-gun's future vision through the main contents of the residents' harmony meetings.

◆ A Happy Life Enjoyed by All Residents through Change and Innovation

The ultimate goal of Uljin county administration is residents' happiness. To this end, the county has established a Uljin-type welfare system so that all residents can live happy lives along with regional economic growth through the large-scale project of the national nuclear hydrogen industrial complex.

Entering a super-aged society by the end of 2024, Uljin-gun has identified "prevention" as the key to senior welfare. To prevent seniors from feeling isolated and to enable them to live together, support measures for revitalizing senior centers have been prepared. Rice and kimchi, which were supported only for five months a year, will now be supplied continuously throughout the year, and through a weekly side dish support project for senior centers, seniors will be able to enjoy a proper meal.

In particular, the side dish support project for senior centers goes beyond simply providing food; it strengthens community spirit by making side dishes from agricultural products produced in Uljin and having local volunteers deliver them directly.

Additionally, seniors aged 70 and over receive 10,000 KRW monthly for bathing and beauty expenses to support a comfortable life, and believing that the best welfare is "job provision," the number of senior jobs has been expanded by 46% compared to the previous year to 2,646.

National veterans and their families who have devoted themselves to the country will receive enhanced benefits at the highest level nationwide, with veterans' allowances increased by 100% to ensure they can spend their remaining years comfortably.

Furthermore, the county provides life-oriented welfare services that allow all residents to enjoy a happy life, including ▲ Uljin-type emergency welfare support system (expanded support up to 100% of income criteria) ▲ treatment of multi-child families of national veterans (payment of veteran allowances, etc.) ▲ expanded support for residential electricity bills (from 17,690 KRW to 27,300 KRW) ▲ expanded coverage of residents' safety insurance (support limit increased from 25 million KRW to 100 million KRW) ▲ free bus operation for all residents.

◆ Uljin on the Growth Path Where Happiness and Development Coexist

Uljin-gun is transforming from an industrial wasteland into an industrial city through the nuclear hydrogen industry.

Leveraging the advantage of hosting the world's largest 10 nuclear power plants, the county has attracted the national nuclear hydrogen industrial complex. If the national complex is successfully established, it is expected to bring enormous benefits such as employment inducement of 38,000 people and an economic ripple effect of 17 trillion KRW.

Based on this, the county expects to grow into a city with a population of 100,000 and a regional gross production of 10 trillion KRW by 2040, attracting people and overflowing with jobs.

In addition, the county plans to ▲ create a stay-type tourism hub centered on a four-season ocean resort to open the "era of 10 million tourists," ▲ build a "sports and health-centered city" by attracting nationwide competitions using top-level sports infrastructure to maximize tourism effects, and ▲ establish a sustainable regional economic structure that guarantees stable income and jobs for all residents through a major transformation of foundational industries such as agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, and strengthening support for small business owners.

◆ A Hopeful Future Created Together with Residents

Governor Son Byung-bok said, "We have firmly established the direction Uljin-gun must take for a better tomorrow, and now is the time to move forward unwaveringly on that path," adding, "I hope you will join us for a city that grows without regression, prospers without extinction, and a shining future for Uljin."
