Im Suheum, the current director, has been reappointed as the 17th director of Gongju Medical Center in Chungnam.
The Chungnam provincial government announced on the 18th that Im Suheum, the current 16th director, has been reappointed as the 17th director of Gongju Medical Center. His term will last for three years, until February 17, 2028.
Director Im, who graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine and obtained a doctorate in medicine from Kyung Hee University, previously served as the head of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescents at Seosan Medical Center. He was appointed as the 16th director of Gongju Medical Center in February 2022 and has led the institution for the past three years.
At the appointment ceremony held in the provincial government office's reception room, Governor Kim Taeheum stated, "Gongju Medical Center is a leading institution for public healthcare in the central region," and urged, "Please do your utmost to ensure a new leap forward in public healthcare and to provide the best medical services to the residents."
Director Im said, "We will establish a Senior Disease Intensive Care Center to create an age-friendly medical city and upgrade our medical services by modernizing the Comprehensive Health Checkup Center. We will also strengthen our internal medicine expertise by reinforcing the cardiology and endocrinology departments, and build a solid infectious disease response system."
Over the past three years, Director Im has led the qualitative improvement of medical services at Gongju Medical Center, expanding the emergency room and intensive care unit, modernizing the health checkup center, and establishing and operating a Senior Disease Intensive Care Center. These efforts have resulted in achievements such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Excellent Grade in Public Hospital Management Innovation and an A Grade in the Regional Public Hospital Operation Evaluation.
