Operation of Integrated Programs for Persons with and without Disabilities
On the 18th, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has been selected for the '2025 Lifelong Learning City for Persons with Disabilities' contest organized by the National Institute of Special Education under the Ministry of Education for three consecutive years. This project aims to provide various lifelong learning programs to promote the capacity development of persons with disabilities and activate community-centered lifelong learning for them.
Since its new designation in 2023 under the vision of "Anseong, a Lifelong Learning City for Persons with Disabilities United through Learning," the city has been selected for three consecutive years. With the national funding of 30 million KRW secured through this selection, the city plans to allocate an additional 30 million KRW from its budget, operating a total budget of 60 million KRW to run integrated programs for persons with and without disabilities, as well as outreach lifelong learning projects for persons with disabilities.
The city also plans to strengthen learner-tailored educational support by securing national and local government funds for the 'Lifelong Education Voucher for Persons with Disabilities' to expand lifelong learning opportunities for persons with disabilities.
A city official stated, "Through this contest selection, we will build infrastructure that more firmly guarantees the lifelong learning rights of persons with disabilities," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a lifelong learning city for persons with disabilities where all citizens can enjoy the joy of learning without discrimination."
