CJ CheilJedang announced on the 18th that Hetbahn Sotban has surpassed cumulative sales of 30 million units as more consumers seek healthy meals.
Launched in May 2021, Hetbahn Sotban is a product rice that contains the nutrition of abundant ingredients such as grains, mushrooms, vegetables, and nuts, based on Sotban vacuum pressurization technology that replicates the principle of pot rice. Last year, Hetbahn Sotban's sales increased by 27% compared to the previous year. So far, a total of nine types have been released, including Mushroom Nutritious Rice, Root Vegetable Nutritious Rice, Beef and Radish Nutritious Rice, Abalone Guts Nutritious Rice, Gondre Potato Nutritious Rice, Honey Yakbap, Bulgogi Mushroom Nutritious Rice, Abalone Butter Nutritious Rice, and Black Rice Nutritious Rice. Among these, Honey Yakbap and Abalone Guts Nutritious Rice sell well.
The popularity of Hetbahn is attributed to product development using raw materials that are highly preferred by consumers but were difficult to commercialize due to technical limitations. At the time of launch, it was difficult to control microorganisms, making it challenging to use meat and seafood as instant rice ingredients. Moreover, the 'moisture content and heat treatment optimization technology' was applied during the cooking process to preserve the texture of the raw materials and the stickiness of the rice.
