Israeli Military: "Terrorist Eliminated"
On the 17th (local time), the Israeli military announced that it targeted a car in Sidon, southern Lebanon, and eliminated a commander of Hamas, the Palestinian armed faction.
According to major foreign media including Lebanon's state-run NNA news agency, around 10 a.m. that day, a passenger car heading from the outskirts of Sidon along a coastal road toward Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, was attacked by a drone strike. One person inside the car was killed in the incident.

Lebanese security sources told AFP on the same day that "the Israeli military carried out an attack targeting a Hamas official." The Israeli military also stated, "Through a joint operation by Shin Bet (Israeli intelligence agency), the terrorist Muhammad Shahin was eliminated."
Shahin was a commander in Hamas's operations department, responsible for rocket launchers. The Israeli military claimed that Shahin was recently planning terrorist attacks in Lebanon directed and funded by Iran.
