The training, which has been in operation since 2024, is designed to equip new employees with basic job competencies before being assigned to the steelworks. New employees learn common subjects required in the operation and maintenance fields before being deployed to their respective workplaces.

The operation training course runs for about five weeks from the 10th of this month to March 14, and the maintenance training course will be conducted for about nine weeks until April 11.

POSCO Talent Creation Center designed the curriculum of this training considering the social backgrounds, working environments, educational backgrounds, and majors of the participating employees.

The job-specific training is divided into four classes in the operation field (Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Hot Rolling, Cold Rolling) and two classes in the maintenance field (Mechanical, Electrical), composed of customized subjects.

The training is conducted by instructors who are current POSCO employees, focusing on real cases occurring at the steelworks to enhance practical job skills.

Additionally, weekly evaluations and assessments at the end of each subject will be conducted simultaneously to maximize the training effect. This year's job-specialized training is scheduled to be held in four sessions in Pohang and Gwangyang, with a total scale of 800 participants.

A representative from POSCO Group's Safety Technology Education Group stated, “We will develop more systematic and diverse education models through this training,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen the company's core competitiveness by enhancing the capabilities of field employees.”
