On this day, about 40 people including Namyangju Mayor Joo Gwang-deok, Jeong Ho-young, the 7th-generation descendant of Jeong Yak-yong, Jeong Yak-yong citizen guides, and cultural tourism guides explored the cultural heritage of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong and held various discussions with Pohang officials for cultural and historical exchanges.

The Namyangju citizen exchange group visited ▲Janggi Exile Culture Experience Village ▲Janggi Elementary School ▲Janggi Eupseong Historic Site in sequence to experience Jeong Yak-yong's exile life and the local history and culture. Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok personally guided the Namyangju citizen exchange group and re-examined the cultural resources related to Jeong Yak-yong in Pohang.

Namyangju City is the birthplace of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong and home to his tomb, the Dasan Memorial Hall, and the Dasan Culture Center. It holds the Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival annually. Earlier, Pohang City visited the 38th Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival held in Namyangju last year and signed the 'Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Culture and History Exchange Memorandum of Understanding.'

Janggi-myeon in Pohang is Jeong Yak-yong's first place of exile. The works he wrote during his exile, such as Giseongjapsi and Janggi Nongga, are evaluated as books that well depict the lives and hardships of farmers at that time. Here, the 'Pohang Janggi Exile Culture Festival,' which expresses exile culture in the form of culture and arts, is held.

Pohang City and Namyangju City plan to expand their historical and cultural consensus based on mutual communication and join forces to modernly inherit and develop Jeong Yak-yong's scholarship and spirit through continuous exchange and cooperation.

Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, "Based on the cultural and historical exchange MOU signed last year, I hope to maintain an even closer relationship with Namyangju City and promote various cooperative projects honoring Jeong Yak-yong's will."

Pohang City plans to hold the 'Pohang Janggi Exile Culture Festival' around April this year and offer various programs such as exhibitions and experiences utilizing the resources left by exile culture.
