DYD, Establishes Bio Division..."Diabetes Diagnosis in 1 Minute with Saliva"

On the 17th, DYD announced that it has established a bio division to target the diagnostic kit market, following a complete overhaul of its management team with bio experts.

The diabetes diagnostic kit being developed by DYD is a product that can measure glycated albumin through saliva within one minute. Glycated albumin is an important indicator reflecting diabetes diagnosis, playing a crucial role in long-term diabetes monitoring. This product applies semiconductor biosensor technology that combines next-generation semiconductor surface technology and antibody conjugation technology. After undergoing domestic validation tests, it obtained new technology certification and a new technology mark from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and completed reproducibility verification through clinical research at a hospital in Maryland, USA.

The saliva-based diagnostic kit has the advantage of a simple testing process without the need for blood collection, causing minimal physical burden on patients. It also reduces errors and inconveniences that may occur with traditional blood glucose measurement methods, allowing patients to perform diagnostics more frequently and manage diabetes monitoring more effectively.

Since existing blood-based measurement methods often caused discomfort for many diabetes patients, DYD’s saliva measurement-based diabetes diagnostic monitoring platform products are expected to bring good news to diabetes patients worldwide.

In addition to the saliva glycated albumin test diagnostic kit, DYD plans to launch a saliva blood glucose tester. The company has also set a goal to enter the global market.

A DYD representative stated, “We aim to enter the global diagnostic kit market to provide an environment where diabetes patients worldwide can monitor and manage their condition more conveniently and accurately. Starting with diagnostic kit products, we plan to achieve sustainable growth and business diversification in the bio sector, while further strengthening our position in the existing cosmetics business.”

Meanwhile, the diabetes diagnostic market continues to grow steadily. According to the market research firm Global Information, the global diabetes diagnostic market is estimated to reach $21.91 billion (approximately KRW 31.64 trillion) in 2024, and is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 7.8% to reach $34.48 billion (approximately KRW 49.67 trillion) by 2030.
