Yeongju-si, Recruiting Sites for Open Parking Lot Project to Alleviate Parking Shortage

Participation Open to Public Institutions, Schools, and Religious Facilities

Yeongju City announced on the 17th that it will promote the '2025 Open Parking Lot Support Project' to alleviate downtown parking difficulties and enhance citizen convenience.


This project supports public institutions, schools, religious facilities, apartment complexes, and commercial buildings in opening their affiliated parking lots to residents for free. The goal is to efficiently utilize existing parking spaces to ease parking shortages in the city center.


The support targets include affiliated parking lots of public institutions, schools, religious facilities, public housing, and private buildings that can open at least 10 parking spaces for free for more than three years during daytime or nighttime. The parking lots must be open for at least 7 hours a day and 35 hours a week.


The scope of support covers repairs and convenience facility installations for open parking lots, including ▲ outdoor security lights and CCTV for crime prevention ▲ parking space painting ▲ asphalt pavement ▲ facility repairs ▲ installation of signboards and signs ▲ and maintenance of parking convenience facilities.


The support amount varies according to the number of parking spaces: ▲ 10?19 spaces up to 10 million KRW ▲ 20?29 spaces up to 12.5 million KRW ▲ 30?39 spaces up to 15 million KRW ▲ 40?49 spaces up to 17.5 million KRW ▲ 50 or more spaces up to 20 million KRW.


Institutions or facilities wishing to participate in the project can contact the Traffic Administration Division of Yeongju City Hall.


Kim Jung-su, head of the Traffic Administration Division, said, “The Open Parking Lot Support Project not only helps resolve parking difficulties but also contributes to coexistence with the local community. We ask for the interest and participation of many citizens and facility officials.”


Last year, Yeongju City opened a total of 10 parking spaces for free at one location through this project, and since 2021, three locations have participated, securing a total of 98 open parking spaces.
