Another Indonesian Worker in the Same Room Hospitalized with Decreased Consciousness
Authorities Confirm No Gas Leak; Cause of Death Under Investigation
A foreign worker in his 20s was found in cardiac arrest at a villa in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and was transported to a hospital but ultimately passed away.
According to the fire authorities on the 17th, they responded to a report at around 7:12 p.m. the previous day about foreign workers complaining of abdominal pain on the 4th floor of a four-story villa building in Cheongbuk-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi Province. Upon arrival, the fire authorities found a 20-year-old Indonesian national, Mr. A, in cardiac arrest and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Another 20-year-old Indonesian national, Mr. B, who was in the same room as Mr. A, was found with decreased consciousness and was taken to the hospital. He is reported to be in stable condition without life-threatening injuries.
On the day of the incident, Mr. A reportedly visited the hospital with another roommate, Mr. C, who shares the same room, due to symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and headache in the morning. After going out and returning home, Mr. C discovered Mr. A collapsed and contacted company officials. It is known that Mr. A shared the room with Mr. B and Mr. C. It was confirmed that this was not a gas leak accident. The carbon monoxide concentration in the adjacent room measured by the fire authorities was 40 ppm, which is below the permissible limit of 50 ppm.
A police official stated, "We have requested an autopsy of the deceased's body from the National Forensic Service and plan to conduct a detailed inspection with the Korea Gas Safety Corporation and others."
