This festival will transform the entire Wondong village into a festival site filled with maehwa (plum blossoms), offering tourists a variety of experiences and attractions while aiming to contribute to local economic revitalization and income increase.

In particular, efforts will be made to promote and boost sales of Wondong’s specialty products such as minari (water parsley), strawberries, and native plums, thereby increasing farmers’ income. Additionally, active participation from Wondong residents will be encouraged to foster local pride, and through the slogan ‘Wondong, Spring Again,’ the plan is to widely promote Yangsan Wondong, renowned for its pristine natural scenery.

The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on March 1 at the main stage of the weekend market. At Wondong Station, a welcoming message will be delivered to visitors, and while waiting for trains, they can enjoy various performances on the busking stage called the ‘Wondong Welcome Stage.’

Programs linked with the local community include a plum noodle house operated by the women’s association at the weekend market and Ssangpo Multipurpose Square, allowing visitors to directly experience the taste and culture of Wondong.

Especially coinciding with the Wondong Maehwa Festival, the ‘Minari Festival’ will also be held from February 22 to March 23. The Minari Festival takes place at Wondong Minari Town, 16-23 Yongdang-ri, Wondong-myeon, offering an opportunity to taste and enjoy minari, known as the ‘herald of spring’ for its unique aroma and slightly bitter flavor.

Main programs include minari tasting events and a direct agricultural products market. Visitors using the train can easily reach the festival venues on foot, enjoying the spring of Wondong where maehwa and minari blend together, creating special memories.

A Yangsan City official stated, “This festival is expected not only to provide visitors with beautiful memories against the backdrop of Wondong’s plum blossoms but also to greatly contribute to local economic revitalization.”
