Busan to Host Korea Quantum Information Society Annual Conference
Public Lecture and Special Industry Session for Citizens and Companies

Top domestic experts in the field of quantum information science and technology are gathering in Busan.

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) announced that from the 17th to the 19th, the 2025 Korea Quantum Information Society Annual Conference will be held at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX).

This annual conference, hosted by the Korea Quantum Information Society (President Han Sang-wook), is the second event where experts in quantum information science and technology from academia and other sectors across the country will come together to engage in various discussions on quantum information science and technology.

The event is designed as a platform to share trends and exchange information in quantum information science and technology. It will cover a wide range of topics fundamental to quantum information science and technology, including recently spotlighted scientific technologies such as quantum computers, quantum communication, and quantum sensors, as well as quantum information theory, quantum materials, and quantum devices.

About 500 participants from industry, academia, and research institutions interested in quantum information science and technology, including companies and universities, are expected to attend and share information.

On the first day, the program will begin with tutorial presentations, followed over three days by keynote speeches, an opening ceremony (February 18 at 11:40 AM), a general meeting, invited presentations, regular presentations, poster sessions, and booth operations.

This year, the city and the Korea Quantum Information Society are collaborating to additionally offer a public lecture (February 17 at 4 PM) and a special industry session (February 18 at 4 PM) for companies interested in quantum information science and technology.

The public lecture will feature Professor Chae Eun-mi from Korea University presenting "The Present and Future of Quantum Science and Technology." The special industry session will include the "Quantum Communication" segment with Director Kim Yong-su of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) presenting "The Fastest Quantum Technology You Can Experience," the "Quantum Computing" segment with Professor Bang Jeong-ho from Yonsei University discussing "Industrial Applications of Quantum Computing Technology," and the "Quantum Sensing" segment with Professor Moon Han-seop from Pusan National University delivering a lecture on "Manufacturing Technology for SMEs Needed to Develop Advanced Industrial Diagnostic Equipment Using Atomic Magnetic Quantum Sensors."

Additionally, separate booths at the venue will showcase exhibitions from 16 institutions and companies, including Busan-based company Pharmcad Co., Ltd., the Quantum Information Research Support Center, and quantum graduate schools from Korea University and KAIST.

Participation in the public lecture and the special industry session is free for pre-registered attendees, while other programs require paid admission. Undergraduate students can enter for free by showing a student ID or enrollment certificate upon on-site registration.

Lee Jun-seung, Deputy Mayor of Busan, stated, "This conference is a meaningful occasion where domestic quantum information science and technology experts gather in Busan, providing a great opportunity for local companies and universities," adding, "We will organize more events to facilitate networking among quantum information science and technology experts in Busan."
