Parcel Delivery Service Utilizing In-house Logistics Network
1,760 KRW Discount Offered for Three Months
Seven Eleven announced on the 17th that it has launched a convenience store parcel delivery service called ‘Chakhan Taekbae’ utilizing its own logistics network.
Until now, Seven Eleven has been providing parcel delivery services in partnership with Lotte Taekbae. The newly introduced Chakhan Taekbae is a service that allows parcel delivery between Seven Eleven stores. Parcels accepted at Seven Eleven are picked up at the store designated by the customer. This service is available at over 10,000 Seven Eleven stores nationwide.
Seven Eleven has launched a convenience store parcel service called 'Good Parcel' utilizing its own logistics network. Provided by Seven Eleven.
Chakhan Taekbae operates at a uniform price regardless of region or weight. The basic fare is 1,980 KRW, and with a launch discount, it can be used for 1,760 KRW for three months. This is about 50% cheaper compared to general parcel delivery service prices. The maximum weight for parcel acceptance is 5kg. Parcel delivery service between inland and Jeju Island will be launched later.
The service is available through the Seven Eleven mobile application (app) and LogisHub, with LogiEye scheduled to open within this month. When a parcel reservation and payment are made through the mobile app, a QR code is issued, and customers can simply use the service by visiting the designated Seven Eleven store to drop off the parcel. Acceptance and delivery are carried out every day of the year, including holidays and public holidays. The acceptance deadline is 5 PM daily, and the delivery period is within four days from the acceptance date.
Collected parcels are transported via Seven Eleven’s own logistics vehicles, passing through a hub center before being handed over to the designated store. When a parcel is accepted at the store, notification messages are sent to both sender and recipient, and a second text alert is sent to the sender when the parcel is dispatched from the center. Upon arrival at the destination, both sender and recipient receive text notifications, and a separate QR code is sent to the recipient. The recipient can pick up the parcel by presenting the QR code at the designated store.
Seven Eleven expects to increase customer satisfaction with the service and generate additional sales at each store. Convenience store parcel delivery services are a representative service of convenience stores. Especially among younger generations, the preference for non-face-to-face transactions such as online shopping and secondhand trading is increasing, leading to continuous growth in convenience store parcel delivery usage. In fact, Seven Eleven’s parcel delivery service sales grew by about 25% compared to the previous year.
Kim Jong-yoon, head of Seven Eleven’s Last Mile Team, said, “As customer demand for convenience store parcel delivery services continues to increase, we expect the Chakhan Taekbae service, which offers reasonable prices and convenient usage methods, to have a positive impact on customer satisfaction. We will continue to plan and introduce various new services that customers need, making them more conveniently available at nearby Seven Eleven stores.”
