Daegu Gyeongbuk City and Province Residents Association Chairman Choi Byeong-il and Vice Chairman Lee Dong-hwan Each Donate 5 Million Won to Hometown Love Donation Fund

Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 16th that it received 5 million won each in hometown love donations from Choi Byung-il, president of the Jaedaegu Gyeongbuk City Residents Association, and Lee Dong-hwan, senior vice president, to be used for the development of the local community.


The donation ceremony held on the 14th was attended by Lee Cheol-woo, governor of Gyeongbuk, Choi Byung-il, president, and Lee Dong-hwan, senior vice president.

Choi Byung-il, who is from Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, said, “I decided to make this donation based on my affection and sense of responsibility for my hometown,” adding, “As someone born and raised in Gyeongbuk, I wanted to contribute even a little to the local community. We will continue to be a residents association that grows together with the community.”


Senior Vice President Lee Dong-hwan stated, “The residents association is not just a social group, but a community that helps and shares with each other while developing together with the hometown. We will continue to carry out activities that can provide practical help to the local community.”


As members of the Honor Society, President Choi Byung-il and Senior Vice President Lee Dong-hwan have also demonstrated their love for their hometown by donating 5 million won in both 2023 and 2024, the years when the hometown love donation system was initiated.


Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk said, “I deeply appreciate the warm interest and support of the Jaedaegu Gyeongbuk City Residents Association,” adding, “Their unwavering love for their hometown and practice of sharing are giving heartwarming inspiration to the local community. We will do our best to make Gyeongsangbuk-do a warmer and better place to live.”


Gyeongbuk Province plans to use the collected hometown love donations as funds for various projects aimed at preventing local extinction and improving community welfare, and to further spread the culture of donation through public-private cooperation.
