Presiding Judge Changed to Lee Seunghan
The presiding judge for the appeal trial in the perjury coaching case involving Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, will be changed.
According to the legal community on the 14th, due to the regular court personnel reshuffle and reorganization of office assignments, the presiding judge of the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 3 handling Lee's perjury coaching case will be changed to Lee Seung-han, chief judge of the High Court (56, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 22), on the 24th. Judge Lee previously served in the Seoul High Court Administrative Division 1.
The current presiding judge, Lee Chang-hyung, chief judge of the High Court (63, class 19), will move to the Civil Division 33, which handles international transactions.
The second trial for the perjury coaching charge is scheduled for its first preparatory hearing on the 11th of next month, so there is no need for a retrial procedure due to the change of presiding judge.
The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 6-2, which is currently hearing Lee's public official election law violation case, will continue to be handled by High Court judges Choi Eun-jung (53, class 30), Lee Ye-seul (48, class 31), and Jung Jae-oh (56, class 25).
