Pukyong National University Hosts 'Busan Economic Security Forum'

Discussing Response Strategies Amid Economic Security Threats

The Global Logistics Management Research Institute at Pukyong National University held the 'Busan Economic Security Forum' on the 14th at the Humanities and Social Management Building.


This forum, co-hosted by the institute and the Korean International Trade Association (President Jeong Jae-seung), was organized to explore response strategies for Korea and the Busan region amid the rapidly changing global economic security environment.


On the day, Professor Kim Joo-hee (Department of Political Science and Diplomacy) of Pukyong National University presented on 'Europe's De-risking Strategy Against China and Korea's Response,' and Professor Yoo Jung-ho (Department of International Trade) of Pukyong National University spoke on 'The United States' Economic Security Strategy Against China and Its Impact on Busan.'


In his presentation, Professor Yoo Jung-ho stated, "Since the inauguration of the second Trump administration, discussions on tariff policies have been active, but domestic discussions on comprehensive economic security issues such as export controls, trade security, technology regulations, and climate security remain insufficient." He added, "I hope this Busan Economic Security Forum will develop into a platform for cooperation among local industries, academia, and policy authorities."


The subsequent panel discussion was moderated by Professor Hong Chang-yoo (Department of Global Autonomous Major) of Pukyong National University, with in-depth discussions by Professor Moon Hyung-bin (Big Data Convergence Major) and Professor Lim Jeong-min (Department of Economics) of Pukyong National University, along with Cho Sung-il, Deputy General Manager of PI Advanced Materials.


Professor Lee Jung-yoon, Director of the Global Logistics Management Research Institute at Pukyong National University, said, "This forum is significant in that it conducted practical discussions on how the Busan region should respond to changes in the global economic security environment. We expect this forum to serve as a focal point for industry-academia-research cooperation and contribute to establishing Busan's economic security response strategies."
