The government announced that it will faithfully implement the already announced harvest season measures to ensure the stable maintenance of rice prices this year. In addition, it plans to increase the reliability of supply and demand forecasts by proactively adjusting the rice cultivation area for the 2025 crop and utilizing expert consultations.
As follow-up measures for rice industry structural reform, the government will also promote mandatory protein labeling, improve the grain labeling system by strengthening standards for broken rice content, and gradually restrict the supply of government grain for processed rice products to encourage private consumption of newly harvested rice.
In addition, as government-managed grain processing contracts began in March this year, Jeollanam-do explained the revised regulations from January and instructed thorough preparation for smooth contracts with processing plants and storage warehouses, including collateral arrangements, warehouse grading, fire safety inspections, and building safety assessments.
Park Sangmi, Director of Agricultural Food Distribution at Jeollanam-do, said, "Through this meeting, we expect to strengthen the cooperation system with cities and counties and enhance professionalism and processing capabilities in government grain operations."
