On the 14th, Jeollanam-do held a regional economy and price stabilization meeting at the Eastern Government Complex for 2025 with city and county officials, reviewing the progress of the five major support measures for revitalizing the local economy and devising strategies for economic activation and price stability.

The meeting was convened in response to the recent rise in consumer price inflation to 2.3%, and expectations that consumer prices will continue to increase for the time being due to external factors such as the Trump administration's tariff policies, rising import prices, and international oil price volatility. The aim was to develop measures for stabilizing the livelihood economy and revitalizing the regional economy.

Jeollanam-do explained that stabilizing public utility charges should be the top priority for maintaining economic stability. The province requested that, since public utility charges have been suppressed for some time, any sudden increase could become a major driver of inflation. Therefore, they asked to postpone the timing of any increases and, if unavoidable, to minimize the rate of increase.

Additionally, as issues such as overcharging are becoming a nationwide problem, the province called for more effective administrative measures through on-site joint inspections during national sports events and regional festivals. To promote fair trade practices, they also requested active implementation of advance notification of prices, price agreement systems, and promotion of "Good Price Stores."

The province reviewed the progress of the five major support measures for revitalizing the livelihood economy, which have been underway since mid-January, such as public utility fee support for restaurant small business owners and policies to reduce delivery fees for small businesses. They also requested expansion of initiatives such as activating QR code-based mobile payment systems for local gift certificates and providing gift certificates as part of various support programs.
