Psychological Assistance Provided in Cooperation with Professional Counseling Institutions
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced measures to support the appointment of temporary teachers for candidates whose pass/fail status changed due to a significant error during the announcement of the secondary teacher employment exam results.
On the 14th, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education released the "2025 Gyeonggi Secondary School Teacher Employment Candidate Selection Competitive Exam Result Change Special Measures," which includes this information.
According to the special measures, the Office of Education determined that the affected candidates were those who passed the first written exam, which along with the second teaching ability evaluation comprised the exam, and that their final scores were close to the passing line, so they decided to support their employment.
The employment support means that if these candidates apply as temporary teachers at public schools under the Office of Education within the next year, they will be given priority for hiring. The period of employment will be recognized as career experience. Additionally, the Office will cover the costs required to prepare documents such as the civil servant employment physical examination, addiction tests including drugs, and latent tuberculosis infection tests, which must be submitted during the temporary teacher application process.
Furthermore, for those who may have suffered psychological shock due to this incident, initial counseling will be provided upon request, followed by psychological support linked with professional counseling institutions.
Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, apologized, stating that this was an inexcusable mistake. He said, "Even if it was a mistake by the staff, the failure to detect it is the responsibility of the Office of Education, and I sincerely apologize," adding, "We will also implement measures to prevent recurrence, such as improving and advancing the score calculation program system and reinforcing specialized personnel for teacher selection."
Earlier, on the 11th at 10 a.m., the Office announced approximately 2,000 final successful candidates for the secondary teacher employment exam. However, it was confirmed that the 'Teaching Demonstration' subject was reflected using the raw score (out of 60 points) instead of the converted score (out of 30 points), leading to the suspension of the announcement within an hour and a corrected re-announcement around midnight the same day. During this process, 49 candidates who had initially passed were changed to fail, and 49 candidates who had initially failed were changed to pass, resulting in a total of 98 candidates whose pass/fail status was reversed.
