People Power Party Boycotts Meeting Over Uncoordinated Agenda

On the 14th, the National Assembly passed a resolution urging the appointment of Ma Eun-hyuk as a Constitutional Court Justice. The ruling party, the People Power Party, did not attend the meeting, citing that the agenda and schedule were set without prior consultation.

That afternoon, the National Assembly plenary session approved the resolution urging the appointment of candidate Ma with 168 votes in favor out of 168 members present.

The resolution included △ Acting Prime Minister and Presidential Authority Choi Sang-mok appointing candidate Ma without delay △ urging a swift decision on the constitutional dispute case regarding the refusal to appoint Ma Eun-hyuk by the Constitutional Court △ a stern warning to Acting Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok if he disobeys the ruling to accept the constitutional dispute case on the refusal to appoint Ma Eun-hyuk △ and all necessary measures against actions that shake the Constitutional Court.

Park Sung-jun, a member of the National Assembly Steering Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "This is to complete the composition of the Constitutional Court and to promptly overcome the constitutional crisis caused by incitement of violence against constitutional institutions."
