Hanyang University announced on the 15th that it held the 'International Veterans Affairs Future Forum for Sustainable Development' on the 7th.
This forum was organized to bring together experts in international development cooperation, public diplomacy, and veterans affairs to explore the role and direction of international veterans affairs. In particular, there was a consensus that international veterans affairs should be set in a way that contributes to long-term peacebuilding beyond the simple compensation aspect such as war memorials. Veterans affairs should go beyond mere compensation and establish practical welfare and support systems through advanced technology and international cooperation.
Specifically, discussions included ▲ the introduction of customized welfare policies such as PTSD treatment, vocational training, and veterans pensions ▲ the adoption of innovative solutions utilizing smart healthcare and blockchain technology ▲ strengthening cooperation with countries involved in wars and developing countries, and expanding connections with international organizations (UNDP, WHO, IOM) ▲ and the introduction of the 'Smart Village' concept to support the independence of veterans and war victims.
A Hanyang University official stated, "Taking this forum as an opportunity, we plan to lead research and policy development in international veterans affairs to seek practical measures for sustainable development and peacebuilding through international development cooperation and public diplomacy."
