Oh Se-hoon: "Democrats Use Board of Audit and Inspection as a Political Tool... 'State Affairs Manipulation'"

"Democratic Party Pushes Targeted Audit Proposal in the National Assembly"

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for using the Board of Audit and Inspection as a tool for political strife, calling it "state corruption."

On the 14th, Mayor Oh wrote on Facebook, "The Democratic Party, which shook the constitutional order with 29 impeachment attempts, is now using the Board of Audit and Inspection as a means of political conflict."

Oh Se-hoon: "Democrats Use Board of Audit and Inspection as a Political Tool... 'State Affairs Manipulation'" On February 13, 2025, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended and spoke at the Investment and Affiliated Institutions Deregulation Report Meeting held at the Seoul City Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul. He added that Seoul is currently undergoing audit procedures related to the construction of the 2nd Sejong Cultural Center, the Hangang River Bus, and the Yeouido ferry terminal. Regarding this, Mayor Oh emphasized, "This is because the Democratic Party led and processed a targeted audit proposal in the National Assembly."

He also pointed out, "The Democratic Party is trying to undermine the independence of the Board of Audit and Inspection by impeaching its head and drastically cutting the budget for specific operational expenses." In particular, Mayor Oh stated, "I cannot help but criticize the behavior of the lawmaker who led the audit request for the 2nd Sejong Cultural Center," adding, "A member of the Public Administration and Security Committee representing the Yeongdeungpo district led a retaliatory audit request simply because it was outside their constituency."

Seoul had initially planned to build the 2nd Sejong Cultural Center in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, but later decided to relocate it to Yeouido Park. Mayor Oh explained, "A cultural facility for local artists will be established on the existing Mullae-dong site, so as a result, Yeongdeungpo, which originally had only one cultural facility planned, will now have two."

Mayor Oh sharply criticized, "The Democratic Party's behavior of neutralizing the Board of Audit and Inspection, a constitutional institution, and effectively privatizing it as a tool for political strife is precisely 'state corruption.'"
