At around 10:51 a.m. on the 14th, a fire broke out at the Banyan Tree Hotel construction site in Gijang-gun, Busan.
According to the Fire Department, the firefighting team arrived at the scene at 11 a.m. and issued a Level 1 response at around 11:10 a.m. Later, at around noon, the response was escalated to Level 2 due to concerns over multiple casualties.

The fire is believed to have started near the insulation material by the swimming pool on the first floor of the construction site.
As of now, 6 people are reported to be in cardiac arrest, and 4 have sustained minor injuries due to the fire.
Three firefighting helicopters, 28 pieces of equipment, and 89 firefighters have been deployed to the scene to control the flames.
