Chungnam Hongseong County announced on the 14th that, ahead of the new school semester, it will conduct intensive crackdowns on illegal activities at businesses frequently used by youths around schools to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
The intensive crackdown will be carried out by forming joint inspection teams with special judicial police from other cities and counties, focusing until the 26th on illegal employment of youths, entry of youths into restricted establishments, and food safety around schools.
The main targets of the crackdown and inspections include: ▲ distribution, manufacturing, and sale of substandard or unsafe foods ▲ sale of expired or unlabeled food products ▲ hygiene management of food preparation and sales facilities ▲ whether signs restricting entry or employment of youths at harmful establishments are displayed ▲ whether signs prohibiting the sale of harmful substances (such as alcohol and tobacco) to youths are posted.
During the crackdown period, the county will provide guidance on relevant laws and on-site instructions to business owners and employees, and will impose strong judicial and administrative measures such as fines and business suspensions in accordance with the law if violations are detected.
Kim Hyunki, head of the Safety Management Division, stated, "We plan to conduct crackdowns to provide safe food for youths and improve harmful environments as the new semester begins," and added, "We will do our best to protect youths through intensive crackdowns on illegal business activities."
