Police have launched an investigation after a report was received that a teacher assaulted a student at an elementary school in Gimhae, Gyeongnam.
According to the police and education authorities on the 13th, a report was filed with the police that teacher A at an elementary school in Gimhae assaulted a student.
It is known that A used violence while instructing the student to clean. At the time, another student who was filming the assault on their phone reportedly struggled with the teacher who tried to take the phone away.
The police report was made by one of the students who was in the same classroom at the time. The incident ended when another teacher, who noticed the commotion, entered the classroom.
The school immediately separated A from the students. The education authorities plan to provide psychological counseling programs to about six students who were either directly assaulted or witnessed the incident, while verifying the exact facts.
The police will investigate teacher A regarding the specific circumstances of the incident, the extent of the assault, and whether child abuse occurred.
