Professor Choi Jeonghwa of National Pukyong University Appointed as New President of the Korean Society of Fisheries Sciences

Professor Choi Jeong-hwa of Pukyong National University (International Cooperation Research Institute for Marine Fisheries Development) has been inaugurated as the new president of the Korean Society of Fisheries Sciences for 2025. The term of office is one year, until December of this year.

Founded in 1955, the Korean Society of Fisheries Sciences leads the development of fisheries science by facilitating information exchange, joint research, and mutual cooperation systems in the field of fisheries science, as well as guiding education, research, and projects related to fisheries science.


The society holds academic conferences twice a year and publishes a Korean-language journal six times annually and an English-language journal twelve times annually.


In particular, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding this year, the society plans to hold an international academic event in Jeju and is working to have its English journal, currently indexed in SCOPUS, registered in SCIE, among other efforts to advance the society.
