Gyeonggi Province began restocking pig farms in Gimpo City, where pig farming was halted due to the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in August last year.
The pig farm culled approximately 4,000 livestock following the ASF outbreak and completed post-management over the past six months, including phased cleaning, washing, disinfection, frequent on-site inspections by livestock quarantine officers from the Gyeonggi Provincial Animal Hygiene Laboratory, removal of contaminants, and restocking trials.
The affected farm completed a two-month restocking trial (including test livestock restocking and detailed examinations such as environmental and serological tests) and received approval for restocking on the 12th after all final test results were confirmed negative.

Shin Byung-ho, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Animal Hygiene Laboratory, stated, "Due to the additional ASF outbreaks in the Yangju area since December last year, the situation is still not safe," and urged, "Please actively cooperate to ensure quarantine measures such as thorough disinfection inside and outside farms and vehicle access control are implemented by the quarantine authorities."
Since the ASF outbreak at a pig farm in Paju in January last year, a total of five cases have occurred in Gyeonggi Province, including Gimpo and Yangju areas.
Gyeonggi Province, municipalities, and related agencies are making every effort to prevent further outbreaks by inspecting farm quarantine conditions, conducting pre-inspections before pig shipment and movement, and strengthening disinfection of pig farms, vehicles, and livestock facilities.
