"Please Support Me as I Go to the Battlefield,"
Mother-in-Law of Xu Xiyuan Declares Determination to Protect Daughter's Inheritance
Gu Jun-yeop, formerly of the group Clon, recently expressed his mother-in-law's determination to protect the inheritance of her daughter, Xu Xiyuan (48, Seo Hui-won), who suddenly passed away from pneumonia.
On the 13th, Taiwanese media including China Times reported that Gu Jun-yeop's mother-in-law, Huang Chunmei (Wang Chunmei), posted on Facebook early that morning, saying, "I do not believe that justice cannot be restored," and "Please support me as I go to the battlefield!"
The media interpreted Huang's post as a declaration of 'war' against the family of Wang Xiaofei (汪小菲), Xu Xiyuan's ex-husband, who died earlier this month in Japan due to pneumonia complications. They believed that Huang's message concealed her intention to protect the family's rights and Xu's inheritance.
Earlier, on the 11th, Huang had quoted a song by a famous Taiwanese singer on Facebook, writing, "Leave the sorrow to me, and take your beauty with you." On the 12th, she expressed her longing for her daughter Xu with the words, "There is a hole in my heart. How can I fill it?"
Taiwanese media reported that Xu's remains are kept at her home in the Xinyi District, and her family plans to hold a tree burial on an appropriate day. Xu's family stated that, in accordance with the late's quiet nature and wishes, they will not disclose the date or location. Regarding the scandal surrounding Xu's death, Wang, who caused the controversy, reportedly returned to Beijing, China, on the 11th with his wife, without their two children, according to the media.
Meanwhile, following Xu's sudden passing, disputes over her inheritance arose. According to Taiwanese media, Xu's inheritance amounts to at least 650 million New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 28.6 billion Korean Won). Along with the inheritance procedures, custody and parental rights issues involving her ex-husband Wang also became points of contention. Local media ETtoday reported that under local law, Xu's two children can inherit two-thirds of her estate. It also added that their legal representative, their biological father Wang, can manage it.
Gu Jun-yeop had previously stated that he would transfer his authority regarding Xu's inheritance to his mother-in-law Huang.
