No Application or Premium Payment Required
Gurye County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it has renewed and enrolled in the 2025 Resident Safety Insurance to provide prompt financial support to residents who suffer unexpected disasters and accidents.
The Resident Safety Insurance covers all residents registered in Gurye County (including registered foreigners). Enrollment is automatic without any separate application process or premium payment, and coverage is automatically canceled upon moving out.
This insurance allows for duplicate compensation regardless of other personal insurance policies and covers accidents that occur both domestically and internationally.
Residents can receive insurance payouts by applying directly to the insurance company within three years from the date of the accident.
The coverage amount ranges from a minimum of 100,000 KRW to a maximum of 20,000,000 KRW.
Notably, from this year, compensation for sexual violence victims and general injury death/permanent disability have been added, expanding the total number of coverage items to 22.
Main coverage includes: ▲death from natural disasters ▲injury death and permanent disability from explosion, fire, collapse, or landslide ▲injury death and permanent disability while using public transportation ▲injury death and permanent disability from robbery ▲death from drowning accidents ▲injury death and permanent disability from agricultural machinery ▲medical expenses for injuries from traffic accidents in school zones and silver zones ▲medical expenses for dog bites ▲consolation money for death from acute infectious diseases ▲death from social disasters ▲death and permanent disability from contact with venomous animals, and more.
To claim insurance benefits, affected residents or their legal heirs must submit a claim form and related documents to NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance.
A county official stated, "So far, 25 cases totaling 218.3 million KRW have been paid out through the Resident Safety Insurance," and added, "We will further strengthen our efforts to promote the insurance so that no resident misses out on compensation due to lack of awareness."
