Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute Announces 'Gonggam e Gadeuk Project' Call for Proposals... "Solving Regional Issues with Digital Technology"

The Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute announced on the 13th that it will begin accepting project proposals for the '2025 Data-Based Regional Problem Solving Project (Gonggam e Gadeuk Project)' aimed at promoting regional innovation based on digital technology through data utilization.

This project involves collaboration among private companies with digital technology, local governments, and local residents to directly discover and develop public services necessary for solving regional problems. This year, the support budget per project has been significantly increased from 100 million KRW to 200 million KRW to enhance the completeness and sustainability of the developed services.

Additionally, to ensure that local governments responsibly carry out the projects, the lead institution has been changed from private companies to local governments, which are also required to bear 10% of the local expenses.

Local governments wishing to apply for the project must form a consortium with private companies possessing data and digital technology capabilities, and must obligatorily establish a ‘Seuseuro Haegyeoldan’ (Self-Solution Group) to enable local residents to participate in project execution.

The themes can include any projects that can revitalize the region by solving local issues such as public safety, resident health, vulnerable groups, environment, and transportation.

The application period is until the 7th of next month. Detailed information can be found on the Institute’s website.

Director Park Deok-su stated, "This project is significant not only because it solves regional problems through cooperation between residents and the public-private sector, but also because it creates regional digital demand, contributing to the formation of a regional digital ecosystem by attracting companies. We hope for active proposals of innovative digital utilization methods that can improve residents’ quality of life."
