According to Shin Jeong-hoon, chairman of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee and a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, the Autonomous Police Committee stated in the opinion resolution regarding the consultation on the appointment of the Seoul Police Commissioner that "there is generally no disagreement," but also noted that "there were opinions that it is inappropriate due to a lack of experience in public safety and security work."

The Autonomous Police Committee requested that multiple candidates be recommended in future consultations for city and provincial police commissioners. Since the formation of the Seoul Autonomous Police Committee in June 2021, this is the first time it has pointed out that a candidate for the Seoul Police Commissioner is inappropriate.

Acting Commissioner Park was appointed to key positions such as the personnel verification team of the Presidential Transition Committee and the National Situation Room of the Presidential Office under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, as well as director of the Police Intelligence Bureau and director of the Police Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

It was revealed that Acting Commissioner Park had multiple phone calls with Police Commissioner Jo Ji-ho, Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, and Director of the Police Security Bureau Im Jeong-ju shortly after the declaration of martial law on December 3.
