Uiryeong-gun Opens Registration for Strategic Crop Direct Payment Applications for 2025

Winter crops: until March 31
Summer crops: until May 30

Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that it will accept applications for the 2025 strategic crop direct payment registration form, with winter crops accepted until March 31 and summer crops until May 30.

The strategic crop direct payment system is a program that provides direct payments to farmers cultivating strategic crops on rice paddies to increase food self-sufficiency, stabilize rice supply and demand, and improve paddy field utilization.

The support targets are agricultural management entities cultivating strategic crops on rice paddies of 1,000㎡ or more. The cropping period criteria require that winter crops be sown and harvested normally between October and June of the previous year, and summer crops between May and November of the current year.

The payment rates per square meter for each item are as follows: for winter crops, wheat at 100 KRW, barley and forage crops at 50 KRW; for summer crops, polished rice flour and legumes at 200 KRW, corn and sesame at 100 KRW, and summer forage crops at 500 KRW. Additionally, if double cropping is done on the same plot with winter crops such as wheat and forage crops and summer crops such as polished rice flour and legumes, an additional 100 KRW per square meter is supported.

Applications for strategic crop direct payment registration are accepted at the town and township offices where the farmland is located. After eligibility verification and compliance inspection, direct payments are made in December of the current year.

An official from Uiryeong-gun requested, “To prevent the decline in rice prices caused by overproduction of rice for table consumption and to improve food self-sufficiency, please actively participate in cultivating strategic crops such as paddy beans and summer forage crops instead of rice on paddy fields.”
