Vice Minister Jang Visits Harbin to Support Athletes
Inspects Event Sites and Athletes' Village
Offers Encouragement to Kim Hana After Injury

Jang Miran, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will visit Harbin, China, where the Winter Asian Games are being held from February 12 to 15, to encourage the national team.


On February 12, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Vice Minister Jang plans to inspect the event site to ensure that the Korean athletes can safely complete their remaining competitions.


On February 13, Vice Minister Jang will visit the men's and women's snowboard halfpipe finals in Yabuli to cheer on the Korean athletes who are competing despite the cold weather. After the competition, she will visit the main athletes' village in Yabuli to encourage both the athletes and the support staff working on-site. She will inspect the athletes' village where the athletes are staying and listen to feedback on-site to ensure that the athletes can participate in their events without any difficulties until the very end of the Games.

On February 14, she will visit the men's ice hockey arena in Harbin to support the national team, and she will also attend the main officials' welcome banquet and the closing ceremony to congratulate the successful conclusion of the Games.


Vice Minister Jang stated, "Our athletes, who are working hard to keep up with their busy competition schedules in Harbin, are achieving results beyond expectations and bringing joy and inspiration to the Korean people. I fully understand how much sweat and tears our athletes have shed to deliver such outstanding performances. Therefore, I will closely monitor the event site and offer my support to ensure that our athletes can safely complete their remaining competitions."


Before her departure, on February 11, Vice Minister Jang visited alpine skier Kim Hana, who had to return home early after competing in the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games, to offer her consolation at the hospital. Kim Hana suffered an unexpected injury during the alpine skiing semifinals due to the organizing committee's poor management and was unable to finish the race, leading to her early return.
