Establishing a Hub for Local Extinction Response and Population Policy
Promoting Customized Projects
Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Park Nam-seo) held a 'Yeongju City Population Vitality Center Construction Basic and Detailed Design Service Kick-off Meeting' on the 12th.
At the meeting, Deputy Mayor Lee Jae-hoon, related department heads, experts, and service company officials attended to discuss the project direction and design plans.
The Population Vitality Center will be established as a hub to systematically promote population vitality projects in response to the crisis of local extinction. In particular, it plans to discover and operate customized projects in various fields such as jobs, economy, childcare, education, tourism, youth, and regional vitality, and serve as an intermediary support organization to proactively address low birth rates and aging population issues.
The center will be built in the Yeongju-dong area with a total project cost of 9.6 billion KRW, covering a total floor area of 1,600㎡ and consisting of two above-ground floors. Inside, the Population Vitality Center, which oversees population policy projects, will be the core, along with a Youth Center, Foreign Resident Support Center, Future Education District Center, and a complex cultural space. Through this, various population policy projects will be systematically promoted, and support programs to strengthen residents' self-sustainability will be operated.
Mayor Park Nam-seo stated, “Through the establishment of the Population Vitality Center, we will actively respond to issues such as low birth rates, aging population, and population outflow to the metropolitan area, and do our best to make Yeongju City a successful model of population vitality.”
