Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sang-geun) has completed the selection of the preferred negotiator for the construction of a truck rest area within the first phase of the container terminal hinterland in the western part of Busan New Port.
This project was promoted to help resolve illegal parking and stopping within Busan New Port and to provide truck drivers with better rest environments and convenience facilities.
Earlier, from December 10 last year, BPA announced the project selection for 50 days and formed an external review committee to evaluate the participating companies' business capabilities. As a result, SK Energy was selected as the preferred negotiator.
Going forward, BPA plans to conduct detailed negotiations with the preferred negotiator, conclude an implementation agreement, and aims to commence construction after the second half of 2025.
Hong Sung-jun, Head of BPA’s Operations Headquarters, stated, “This truck rest area construction project will greatly contribute to the safety and welfare improvement of truck drivers using Busan New Port,” adding, “We will work with the preferred negotiator to start the project as soon as possible.”
