At the Welfare and Environment Committee Meeting:
"Urgent Need for Active Budget Allocation to Address Inequality"
Hwang Kyunga, a member of the Daejeon City Council (People Power Party, Proportional Representation), strongly urged for improvements to the support system for shingles vaccination at the 1st meeting of the Welfare and Environment Committee of the 284th temporary session held on the 12th.
Hwang pointed out, "Counties such as Namhae-gun and Wando-gun have already established and are implementing five-year plans for shingles vaccination from 2025 to 2029," criticizing Daejeon City's lack of preparation.
She also highlighted the reality that the type of vaccine?either inactivated or live?varies by district depending on financial independence, adding, "It is unfair that the quality of vaccines differs depending on the district of residence, even though all are Daejeon citizens."
She continued, "Since shingles is a very painful disease, the importance of vaccination is significant," and emphasized, "With support from the central government uncertain, it is necessary for the city to actively secure its own budget."
Hwang stressed, "This year, the city budget must include support for shingles vaccination so that all citizens can receive equal medical benefits without disparities between districts."
