Ttuntteun Pharmacy and Jungang Pharmacy in Jeonggwan-eup Selected
Reducing Inconvenience in Purchasing Medicines During Medically Vulnerable Hours
Addressing Gaps in Medical Services
On the 12th, Gijang-gun, Busan announced that it will designate and operate public late-night pharmacies to alleviate the inconvenience of purchasing medicines for residents during medically vulnerable hours.
The public late-night pharmacies were promoted to make it easier for residents to purchase medicines late at night or on holidays, reduce unnecessary emergency room visits by patients with mild symptoms, and minimize adverse drug reactions through medication counseling by professional pharmacists.
Since January this year, the county conducted a public contest and on-site surveys targeting local pharmacies, and on January 23rd, finally selected Ttuntteun Pharmacy and Jungang Pharmacy located in Jeonggwan-eup as public late-night pharmacies.
The operating hours of the public late-night pharmacies are from 9 PM to 12 AM, 365 days a year without holidays. However, for efficient operation, Ttuntteun Pharmacy will operate flexibly from Tuesday to Thursday, and Jungang Pharmacy from Friday to Monday, dividing the days accordingly.
Additionally, the county plans to actively promote the designated pharmacies so that more residents in need of medicines during late-night hours can use the public late-night pharmacies, and to expand the public late-night pharmacies through close consultation with the Gijang-gun Pharmaceutical Association.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “We hope that the operation of these public late-night pharmacies will resolve the medical service gaps during vulnerable hours,” and added, “We will prepare various support measures so that residents can enjoy safer and more convenient healthcare services.”
