Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, and Uljin Office of Education Sign Agreement
to Revitalize Hupo Marina and Develop the Marine Leisure Industry
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Son Byeong-bok) held an agreement ceremony on the 11th at the Hupo Marina Clubhouse to revitalize Hupo Marina and develop the marine leisure industry.

The meeting was attended by a total of 13 people, including Park Se-eun, Deputy Governor of Uljin-gun, Jeong Sang-won, Director of the Marine Fisheries Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, and Hwang Seok-su, Superintendent of Uljin Office of Education. They discussed effective policies to revitalize the marina industry in Gyeongbuk Province and administrative and financial support plans for Hupo Marina.
In particular, prior to the agreement, they discussed developing various marine leisure programs such as yachting and rafting linked with the Donghae Jungbu Line into tourism products to revitalize the local economy, as well as joint project operation plans between institutions to support youth marine leisure education and curriculum-linked cooperative activities.
Additionally, they agreed to seek support measures to activate yacht education for elementary, middle, and high school students in Uljin-gun, aiming to create an educational environment for nurturing future marine talents.
Jeong Sang-won, Director of the Marine Fisheries Bureau, stated, “We will prepare effective policies so that Hupo Marina can establish itself as a representative marine leisure hub on the East Coast and will not spare continuous administrative and financial support.”
Hwang Seok-su, Superintendent of Uljin Office of Education, said, “We will provide students with various marine leisure experience opportunities and promote continuous support to activate marine education.”
Deputy Governor Park Se-eun said, “Uljin-gun is a region with high potential for the development of the marine leisure industry. We hope this cooperation will lead to a new leap forward in marine tourism and education. We will work closely with related institutions to make our best efforts for regional development.”
Uljin-gun plans to continue actively promoting policies for the development of the marine leisure industry and collaborate with various institutions to strive for sustainable marine tourism and education activation.
