On that day, Mayor Lee held a meeting with Hwang Sang-ha, the newly appointed president of SH, and directly conveyed suggestions regarding major issues in Gangdong-gu, emphasizing the necessity of the related projects.
Regarding the Godeok Biz Valley development project, he requested the prompt completion of the self-sufficient facility site and the smooth promotion of the commercial facility site sales. So far, 18 companies have moved into Godeok Biz Valley, and six more companies are expected to move in this year.
Once occupancy is complete, the number of workers commuting to and from this area is expected to reach approximately 11,400. Additionally, IKEA is scheduled to open in April this year on the distribution and sales facility site, and future constructions include the integrated new headquarters of JYP and the relocated headquarters of the Asan Foundation.
He emphasized that SH’s active cooperation is necessary for the smooth completion and sales of Godeok Biz Valley to become the economic hub of the eastern metropolitan area and a nationally renowned landmark.
Furthermore, the district expressed the need for support in constructing a multipurpose community gymnasium in Godeok Gangil 2 District, where the population has rapidly increased due to large-scale public land development. They also requested SH to actively collect diverse opinions from Gangdong residents and implement follow-up measures regarding the ‘Arisu-ro School Route Traffic Safety Comprehensive Plan Study’ promoted by SH Corporation.
In addition, during the meeting, the district requested smooth progress in the Amsa-dong Hanok Village development project, prompt advancement of the Gangdong Advanced Complex Office Building (Myeongil 1-dong) complex development, cooperation in constructing external roads for smooth access to the ‘Second Godeok Biz Valley’ Gangdong General Industrial Complex, and installation of temporary access routes for residents inconvenienced by the ‘Godeok Gangil Neighborhood Park No. 1 and Godeokcheon Left Bank Landscaping Construction’ affecting the use of Godeokcheon Stream.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lee also met directly with the SH Corporation president in December 2022 to actively convey local issues and emphasized the need for cooperation to the SH president who attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Godeok Gangil 3 Complex in May 2023, demonstrating his commitment to resolving residents’ long-standing projects.
These efforts led to the confirmation of private sales for Block 12 of Godeok Gangil 3 District in November 2023 and the establishment of the (tentatively named) Seoul Gangsol Elementary School Ganghyeon Campus in June last year, creating positive changes in the district.
Mayor Lee Su-hee stated, “Active support and cooperation from SH Corporation are essential to solving major issues in Gangdong-gu and promoting regional development,” adding, “From the development of Godeok Biz Valley, which is changing the district’s economic map, to projects close to residents’ daily lives, we hope to work together to create synergy in various areas.”
